It is with the heaviest of hearts that we must share some sad news to the world.
Jons Hensel, chairman of Stichting het Wereldhart (The Worldheart Foundation), a beacon of light for all of us, has moved on. Wherever he was and whoever he was with, he brought the sun with him. Jons was a true visionary, full of energy, humanity, and connection – someone who led by the heart.
That was his special gift: advancing ideas while simultaneously touching the hearts of everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
For Stichting Het Wereldhart, the foundation that is home to the Embassy of the Free Mind and all its operations and goals, Jons was the visionary leader who committed himself to seeing our mission through.
Jons shared a lifelong and profound bond with his uncle, our founder, Joost Ritman. Bound by deep friendship and a sense of brotherhood, they walked a remarkable path together, always driven by the same conviction: to preserve, protect, and share a legacy that inspires and connects people.
Through this, Jons embodied the spark that led the Embassy of the Free Mind through many of its growth stages and has been an essential figure in our existence until this day. His deep belief in the essence and power of ancient wisdom for the future, was – and forever will be – a source of motivation for our team. In all conversations he would so enthusiastically partake in at the EFM, he always would return to the same principle, the one that defines our mission: Wisdom Creates Freedom.
With a vision-filled gaze and a heart that felt deeply, Jons passed on something that endures. He was the motivator who always believed that nothing is set in stone, that anything is possible, and that those who dare to dream always go further. He placed that trust in the people around him—and it is precisely there, within us, that his light continues to shine.
From the heart of the Embassy of the Free Mind, where Jons himself felt so strongly at home, the team grieves together in a moment of sadness and wishes much strength to his wife Els, his children Yerzi, Yoran, Jons, Yildiz and all those who were fortunate to have known him.
His warmth, his energy, and his vision remain with us.
With our deepest affections,
Team Embassy of the Free Mind
