Grail Tour by Rachel Ritman

This is the default text value

Trace the enduring legend of the Grail through art, symbolism, and centuries of interpretation.

The stories surrounding the Grail have captured the imagination for centuries. One of the masterpieces in our collection is the 'Grail of Amsterdam', commissioned by Joost and Rachel Ritman, which took the Russian lacquer miniature painter Oleg An ten years to complete. Its upper half visualizes the biblical roots of the Grail tradition; its lower half brings to life the legends that emerged in the Middle Ages. Together, they form a visual representation of one of Western culture's most enduring mysteries.

This tour, led by Rachel Ritman, guides you through the layers of story and symbolism contained in the Grail of Amsterdam, with a focus on the medieval Grail tradition. Seating is limited, so booking in advance is essential.
