Musica Mundana: Sound, Consciousness & the Hermetic Tradition

'Orpheus', Odilon Redon, ca. 1903-10.

What if electronic music is more than entertainment? What if sound itself has the power to transform the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us?

Musica Mundana is an immersive electronic sound experience inspired by one of humanity’s oldest philosophical ideas: that harmony is woven into the fabric of the cosmos. Drawing from the Hermetic traditions preserved within the Embassy of the Free Mind, the experience bridges ancient philosophy with contemporary sound design, inviting participants into a contemplative journey through resonance, vibration, and consciousness.

For centuries, thinkers such as Pythagoras, Marsilio Ficino, Johannes Kepler, and Robert Fludd explored the relationship between mathematics, music, and the human experience. Today, electronic music continues that exploration through oscillators, frequencies, spatial sound, and immersive sonic environments.

Participants are invited to lie comfortably while experiencing a carefully curated electronic sound journey featuring ambient textures, downtempo compositions, binaural beats, and spatial audio. Rather than a concert or guided meditation, Musica Mundana offers a space for deep listening, where sound becomes both artistic expression and philosophical inquiry.

Presented within the Embassy of the Free Mind, this unique ADE experience invites audiences to encounter electronic music through the lens of history, consciousness, and embodied perception, creating a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary culture.
